When my lovely client Lisa, recommended me to Steve and Susan, I was delighted to help them plan a last-minute getaway after postponing their Canada trip due to the Jasper wildfires. They wanted a holiday that balanced great food, beautiful scenery and non-chain hotels. Sardinia ticked every box, and I’m thrilled they had a fantastic time…
Jenny listened to what we wanted from a holiday and put forward a lovely itinerary for us in Sardinia. Food, non-chain friendly hotels, good swimming, some travel but not too much - all ticked off. It was a truly great holiday, and we’re already planning our next two trips with her!
Our Holiday Highlights
Hotel Pulicinu/ Costa Smerelda
The magic of Costa Smerelda lies in the freedom to explore. Drive around, find a beach, and take a footpath to hidden coves. Our favourite? Tre Monti Beach in Baia Sardinia, where we found secluded coves with just two people on each!
Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo
Upmarket resorts like Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo are fun for a wander - shop around for decent food, even in these pricey spots.
You can also go a little off the beaten track for better value, and don’t miss the Arzachena archaeological sites.
A must-do? A day-long boat excursion to the Maddalena Archipelago—absolutely breathtaking.

Su Gologone Hotel, Inland Sardinia

The Su Gologone is extraordinary - it reminded us of Portmeirion with its unique charm. That said, it’s not ideal for those with mobility issues, as it’s built into a steep hillside. Be prepared for it to be busy - it’s popular, and some guests may be less than serene!
Leda d’Ittiri Wine Resort, Alghero, North-West Sardinia
Pure peace and tranquillity. If you’re after buzzing nightlife, this isn’t the place, but for a design-conscious, spotless retreat, it’s perfect.
The culinary highlight? Their bruschetta, made with local cheese, tomatoes and their own olive oil - sublime!
On our first evening, the staff said, “We don’t have a restaurant, but we can do you a platter and a bottle of wine.” That platter turned out to be perfection - a simple but beautiful touch to welcome us after our journey.
Don’t miss Sa Mandra, a nearby Agriturismo. It’s a Michelin Bib Gourmand spot, serving incredible multi-course meals, including suckling pig and wild boar. For €50 per person, including wine, it’s a bargain - but come hungry!

Another foodie gem? Il Pavone in Alghero - upmarket classic cooking at its best.
Top tip: Sardinian mozzies are relentless, so don’t forget the insect repellent!
We loved every part of this trip, and Jenny’s thoughtful planning really made it special. From selecting characterful hotels to keeping the travel manageable, she got it just right for us. We’re already excited for our next adventure. Thank you, Jenny!
